A request has been submitted to Peterborough City Council to have the footpath widened to allow cyclists to use the bridge also.  Currently cyclists are expected to cross the three lanes of traffic and to the other side of the road if travelling East to West from the off road cycle route.  This is dangerous and even very experienced cyclists would not recommend doing this.

Most people just cycle along the narrow pavement which then annoys pedestrians as there really is not enough room.

We want a safe and legal route over Crescent Bridge for cyclists.  We have asked for improvements to the bridge.

9 December 2008 - Sadly Peterborough City Council will not be doing any cycle improvements to Crescent Bridge this year.  We were not given a reason why.
